James Harley Palmer was born December 25, 1868 in Barclay, Iowa in Black Hawk County, Spring Creek Township. He is the son of Adam (Ed) Palmer and Amanda Montgomery. He married Dorothy Amundson on June 8, 1903 at Hobarton in Kossuth County, Iowa. Note: since this is a small village outside of Algona, the marriage must have taken place at a home in Hobarton, but recorded in Algona. James died October 27, 1948 in Algona and was buried at Riverview Cemetery, in the Palmer Plot (in the front gate, go left along the fence, nearly to the far west end.) view Headstone. I found five stones in the Palmer plot; Adam Palmer, Amanda M. Palmer, J.H. Palmer, Dorothy A. Palmer and M. Lorraine Dale. James Harley and Dorothy had 8 children: Hilda Amanda, Dorothy Margaret, Clayton LaVerne, Arlouine, Neva Evelyn, Harold James, Lorraine and a male child that died at birth. View Family Group Sheet |
